Job Overview

The Quality and Continuous Improvement Coordinator’s mission is to ensure optimum production quality through the implementation of and compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards. Working closely with department managers, he ensures that the quality management system is applied and respected, promoting continuous improvement.

Missions

Ensure ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications are maintained

  • Maintain PCI’s ISO 9001 and AS 9100 certifications.
  • Coordinate and execute internal audits.
  • Coordinate and plan external audits.
  • Compile and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Analyze the performance of the quality system and present the results of this analysis at the management review meeting (MRM).

Guarantee the Quality System at PCI and PyroGenesis Additive

Scope: quality at all PCI levels (best practices) / quality of incoming products and suppliers/quality of manufacturing and storage processes

  • Maintain documentation: processes, procedures, forms, work instructions (Quality Management System or QMS).
  • Ensure compliance with QMS.
  • Organize and drive supplier audits to verify their quality systems and thus guarantee the quality of incoming products (raw materials or assemblies); communicate information to the relevant departments (projects, procurement, engineering).
  • Prepare documentation required by customers on PCI’s quality system. Carry out external quality audits requested by customers, particularly in the aerospace and defense sectors.
  • Monitor quality problems encountered during warehousing or the manufacturing process: analysis of non-conformity reports, management, archiving.

Risk Analysis

In close collaboration with process owners:

  • Ensure that the risks associated with the various PCI processes are assessed on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that corresponding corrective and preventive actions are established, effective and monitored.

Continuous Improvement

  • After internal and external audits, propose corrective actions and monitor their implementation.
  • Participate in the definition of quality objectives for each PCI department; participate in the elaboration of key performance indicators (KPI); ensure their follow-up.
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement principles to strengthen the Quality system at all three PyroGenesis sites.
  • Enhance PCI’s quality system: improve and modernize the existing system.
  • Research, evaluate, propose, and implement a new IT platform to simplify and improve documentation traceability, and facilitate commitment to a Quality culture.

Drive Quality within PCI

  • Training: in collaboration with the HR department, coordinate the training plan for all staff in connection with Quality issues (procurement, manufacturing, documentation supports).
  • Develop and run Quality-related training courses for all staff.
  • Propose action plans to reinforce Quality requirements at the level of each process, and to implement sustainable Quality best practices within PCI.

Education & Requirements

  • Quality Engineer or Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Asset: certified ISO9001 internal auditor
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Autonomy and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (effective coordination with colleagues, management and regulatory authorities)
  • Rigorous, high expectations, attention to detail, striving for quality
  • Proficient in the Office suite; at ease with IT tools
  • Bilingual French and English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of metallurgical manufacturing processes desirable
  • International travel to be considered (maximum 10% of time)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Quality field
  • Commercial / manufacturing experience with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards
